Dmitry Antonovich Volkogonov, born in the village of Mangut, Chitinskiy okrug, RSFSR, USSR - Soviet and Russian historian, philosopher, political scientist and politician. Volkogonov's academic career began at the Institute of Military History, where he conducted research and wrote works on military history and the history of the USSR. Volkogonov is known as the author of numerous books on Soviet leaders such as Stalin, Lenin and Trotsky.
