Biography

Andy Gill (born 5 November 1956) is a second unit director, stunt coordinator and performer. A member of prestigious industry organisations—including the Directors Guild of America (DGA), Screen Actors Guild (SAG), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), and Stunts Unlimited—Gill has contributed to more than 350 film and television projects, earning acclaim for his skill both behind and in front of the camera. Gill’s early career included stunt performances in high-profile films such as Cannonball Run II (1984), Independence Day (1996), Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001), Minority Report (2002), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous (2005). Notably, he served as stunt double for Brent Spiner in Star Trek: First Contact (1996), performing a significant high-fall stunt. As a stunt coordinator and second-unit director, Gill has shaped action sequences in a range of major films. He coordinated stunts for blockbuster entries in the Fast & Furious franchise—Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Furious 7 (2015), The Fate of the Furious (2017), F9: The Fast Saga (2021), and Fast X (2023)—and has held roles on Marvel Cinematic Universe projects such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Black Panther (2018), Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). Gill’s excellence has been recognised with multiple Taurus World Stunt Awards. He won for Best Sequence Stunt Coordination for Pearl Harbor (2001). In 2004, he took home awards for both Best Work with a Vehicle and Best Stunt Coordination for Bad Boys II (2003). His nominations span a wide array of films, including Showtime (2002), Last Holiday (2006), Death Race (2008), Vantage Point (2008), Furious 7 (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), F9: The Fast Saga (2021), and Fast X (2023). Gill holds the Guinness World Record as the highest-grossing stuntman or coordinator, with his body of work’s cumulative box office surpassing $12.2 billion worldwide.
